Loomis Gag Bits

Joyce Loomis-Kernek, a former WPRA and AQHA Champion Barrel Racer and World Renowned Clinician, designed the original Loomis Gag Bit.

The Loomis Gag offers poll pressure and independent lateral pressures, helping to raise the head and stand a horse up in the turn more readily than a traditional ring snaffle.

Many use this bit as the first transition out of a snaffle. When used correctly, its unique gag action helps collect the horse and lift the shoulder in the turn without being too harsh.

Loomis Gag bits can be used for everything from starting colts to tuning seasoned finished horses.  Perfect transition to use directly following the ring snaffle by giving the rider lift and sharpness, which makes it easier to progress the young horse into side-passing and reverse-arc maneuvers.
