Not only is this made with the most amazingly soft and supple leather, ALL the hardware is brass. If you live in a wet climate like I do, you'll know why that is such a benefit....NO RUSTING!!!!
One of the unique things about this running martingale, is that the neck strap is adjustable on BOTH sides of the neck.
Running martingales help a horse learn to carry its head in the position that will allow it to use its body to drive from behind and with collection.
Correct adjustment is key, for both safety and effectiveness:
1. Cinch strap should be snug against the horse but not too tight.
2. Neck strap should be snug enough that you can run your hand under it.
3. Rein straps should be approximately 1-2 inches from the horses jaw when they are fully extended; the horse should be standing relaxed with their head a normal position when this measurement is made.
